At the Studiolo, as part of the “Gold of La Serenissima” season, we are showcasing gold leaf gilding.
We therefore offer workshops where students can experiment with a variety of surfaces, particularly masks.
A traditional mask is made by layering several sheets of paper over a mould.
This mask needs to dry.
So that you can complete all the steps while your mask dries, we have you decorate another mask made beforehand using the same mould you used.
At the end of the session, you will leave with a fully finished mask and, if you wish, can collect the mask that is still drying at a later date!
If you have enough time, you can complete all the steps, but if you’re short on time, you can still enjoy the experience of gilding with gold leaf.
Depending on the participants and options chosen, this course will take between 2 and 2.5 hours on average.
Option 1: Making a papier-mâché mask and decorating a mask with gold leaf (Duration 2–2.5 hours)
- 120 euros for one person
- 90 euros per person for two or more people
Option 2: An introduction to the papier-mâché technique, followed by gold leaf decoration on a pre-moulded mask ready to decorate
